Em's High-Protein Recovery Smoothie

I just whipped this smoothie up for my husband who is doing a 5 hr training ride in preparation for Coast to Coast. Recovery nutrition is very important especially for long sessions and even more especially is the session was hard. This smoothie provides approx 90 g carb and 17g protein which easily meets post-recovery requirements within 30 minutes of the training session.

Put all ingredients into blender and hit the GO button:

  • 2 ripe bananas (50g carb)
  • 1+ T. peanut butter (nil carb, 8g pro)
  • 6 Brazilnuts (nil carb, 8g pro)
  • 1 T. honey (15g carb)
  • 1c chilled rice milk (26g carb, 1.5g pro)

For an even more decadent tasting smoothie, try using frozen bananas. This smoothie is 100% vegan and gluten free. Enjoy and happy training!
